Linear Acoustic provided its UPMAX:neo™ 5.1-channel upmixer and technical services for NBC’s coverage of the 2008 Beijing Summer Games and is proud to be providing new technology and services for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games. TIM J. CARROLL - Founder and President

Tim Carroll founded Linear Acoustic Inc. to offer innovative, customer-centric solutions for managing multichannel surround sound audio and loudness issues in digital broadcast. Previously, he was the Product Manager for the Professional Audio Division of Dolby Laboratories in San Francisco where he helped define and develop Dolby Digital (AC-3), Dolby E, and Dolby Surround products for High Definition Television, DVD, Digital Radio, and Digital Cinema applications in the U.S. and abroad. He is also an inventor of several patent-applied-for technologies. Mr. Carroll remains actively involved in the creation of Digital Television standards and practices. He is currently an associate editor for the IEEE Broadcast Technology Society (BTS), and is the chairman of a working group of the ATSC. He is a member of IEEE, AES, SBE, SMPTE, and BKSTS. He was also a member of the NRSC DAB Subcommittee and the EWG that formulated NRSC-5, the IBOC for FM standard.

CHRISTINA H. CARROLL - Senior Vice President, Global Sales

Christina was instrumental in the formative years of Linear Acoustic, taking responsibility for bookkeeping, tradeshow coordination, HR, and moving the company to its current location in Pennsylvania. Named sales manager in 2007, she was promoted to VP Sales and Marketing in 2008 with the dual tasks of completely re-organizing sales channels and hiring technical experts across the country and around the world to assist customers with DTV audio issues. Taking a hands-on approach, she can be found traveling the world to promote Linear Acoustic products and technologies. Christina is also responsible for managing the company’s marketing strategy across print and electronic media and tradeshow presence. Prior to Linear Acoustic, she was as an Account Executive for Bay Area recruiting firm Fellows Placement during the peak of the intensely competitive Internet hiring frenzy. After returning to the East Coast, she was a branch manager for the Hobart-West group and managed a new division, case management placement for Bayada Nurses.

DON CARDONE - Director of Major Business Development

Don Cardone has more than 25 years of experience in broadcast sales management. Prior to becoming Sales Director for the Americas, Cardone was a product sales manager for Pro-Bel America’s Vistek software and hardware solutions, which he sold directly to most major U.S. broadcasters. Earlier, as national sales manager for Vistek Electronics, Cardone opened the company’s first North American office and oversaw direct sales and the efforts of independent representatives across the United States and Canada. He also has held national and regional sales management positions at Sorceron, Crosspoint Latch, and Video Corp. of America.

HAL BUTTERMORE - Field Applications Engineer

Hal Buttermore has more than 30 years of broadcast engineering experience. Buttermore has held positions of director of engineering for Cap Cities/ABC/Disney, Detroit, and market engineering manager at CBS, where he successfully headed the conversion of six stations to HD transmission. Buttermore is currently traveling the Midwestern states as part of the “Hear Factor" Tour, helping broadcasters understand the need for loudness metering and control in television audio. He also participated in the 2008-2009 Linear Acoustic “DTV Audio Myth Busters Tour,” educating broadcasters how to make the 2009 digital transition easy, effective, and cost efficient.

ED SIMEONE - Vice President, U.S. Sales

A highly regarded professional across the broadcast and pro A/V industries, Ed Simeone joined Linear Acoustic to lead sales and support nationwide, optimize sales channels and continue growth across all domestic markets. Simeone comes to Linear Acoustic after serving as founder, CEO, and later Chairman of TCUS, the North American distributor for TC Electronic A/S, a Danish developer and manufacturer of first class audio products for the broadcast, live and pro A/V markets.

ROBERT NICHOLAS - Director of Business Development, EMEA

Robert Nicholas is responsible for appointing and training dealers in the EMEA market. He will also represent Linear Acoustic on several standards committees focused on drafting legislation for broadcasters on issues of loudness control and surround sound broadcast, including the EBU, P-Loud, D-MAE, P-AGA and the European HD Forum. Nicholas will also drive tradeshow activities for European shows including IBC and the international AES conferences.  Previously, Nicholas served as broadcast business development director for Digital Theatre Systems (DTS) leading a team that developed strategies for the adoption of an IP licensing model to broadcast applications and coordinating the company’s presence at international exhibitions.

DANIEL WANG (WANG ZHERUN) - Director of Business Development, Asia

Daniel Wang is Director of Business Development, Asia and also serves as the Chief Representative for China in our Beijing office. Daniel is responsible for providing stations with technical and customer support, with services ranging from product recommendation to the design of customized loudness control solutions. He also appoints and trains dealers and represents Linear Acoustic on committees and workshops which focus on DTV audio in Asia.  Previously, Daniel served as Business Development Manager of Digital Broadcast Solutions for DTS Inc. developing strategies for the adoption of advanced surround sound codec to both broadcast applications and consumer applications like HDTV, Blu-ray and PC industries.

ERIK BOOTH - Director of Engineering

Erik enjoys working at the circuit board level creating hardware platforms for audio and video processing and while he specializes in digital audio and digital video products, he also has extensive design experience with analog products. He brings a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and 10 years of experience at Sigma Electronics where he designed numerous audio and video products for the professional broadcast market. He also has experience in higher levels of design such as system architecture, user interface, communications, and FPGA programming.

ROD CAMPBELL - Senior Software Engineer

Rod Campbell has been designing software on various platforms for over 20 years, primarily concentrating on embedded firmware development and GUI instrument control software. Formerly of Sigma Electronics and AMP Corporation, Rod has earned degrees in electrical engineering and computer programming.

SUE ZANDER - Production Manager

Sue Zander oversees the Linear Acoustic manufacturing assurance program and the efficient manufacture and delivery of products in accordance with customer designs and expectations. She brings with her 25 years of experience in building quality products for the broadcasting industry. Before coming to Linear Acoustic in January, Sue worked for Sigma Electronics as their production planning manager, overseeing the in-house assembly, and also coordinating their trade shows.  Sue also is the main point of contact for the many worldwide tradeshows and events that Linear Acoustic participates in each year.
